Commanders Dinner
Mu Chapter at The University of Georgia, Sigma Nu Fraternity’s longest continuously active chapter, hosted an event for former Mu Commanders on December 15, 2008. With over fifty percent of Mu’s living Commanders in attendance, their combined years of brotherhood exceeded 875.
The range of those gathered included Dr. Verner Chaffin (Mu 621, initiated in 1937) to Austin Hackney (Mu 2323, initiated in 2006). In addition to words of pride and laughter over stories shared, each former Commander took the opportunity to provide words of encouragement and leadership advice to Clayton Cox, Mu’s current Commander. All were reminded of the practical leadership lessons learned as a Sigma Nu and the steadfast relationships that were founded as a collegiate Sigma Nu. Importantly, several alumni commented on the rewarding role that all Sigma Nu alumni can take in serving as mentors or volunteers to ensure that the collegiate Sigma Nus have even greater opportunity to excel with each passing class. Clayton and the House Corporation officers also provided a brief "State of the Chapter" report and update on construction and campaign needs.
