Fellow Brothers and Alumni of Mu Chapter,
It has been a wonderful year here on the campus of the University of Georgia. However, it is time to return to our homes and explore places outside of Athens until August. Here is how Mu Chapter ended the academic school year!

3000th Mu Chapter Initiate Ceremony and Fall Networking Event

Save the date for September 29th, 2024 to celebrate the milestone of the 3000th Mu Initiate! The upcoming 2024 fall pledge class will mark the 3000th Mu Number, achieving a goal that recognizes longevity and the valiant efforts of all alumni.
In addition to this milestone, we plan to organize a networking event in the fall involving active brothers and alumni who wish to share wisdom and advice about their career and respective industry. If you are interested in serving a role in this event and are able to travel to/within the Atlanta metropolitan area, please reach out to mualumnichair@gmail.com.

Speakers Series – Wells Ellenberg

Earlier in the month of April, alumnus Wells Ellenberg (Mu 2400) came to speak to the chapter about his time at the University of Georgia, his efforts as Eminent Commander to continue the reconstruction of the chapter, and his career path. Brothers found guidance through his stories at The Coca-Cola Company, as well as Southern Company Gas where he now works as the Vice President of Corporate Communications. Wells shared wisdom about principles that we should upkeep going into our careers, as well as our general lives outside of college. We would like to thank Wells for coming to speak with the chapter!

– Philip Wilder (Mu 2896)

Brothers attending Governor Kemp’s Speech on Campus

Brothers gathered in late April to hear from Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp. Kemp, a Lambda Chi, attended the University of Georgia in the 1980s. He graduated with a degree in Agriculture. Governor Kemp took the time to host a panel for greek life students, allowing for questions about his time as a student and in a fraternity. Of course, Governor Kemp received questions about what he learned in college. He emphasized time management and working with a social balance in life.

End of School Year Brotherhood Celebration

On May 4th, the chapter hosted a water slide event for the brothers and a handful of rushees. The event started around 2 pm with a 20 foot water slide, low country boil, and a great chapter show-out. The rainy weather enhanced the fun and encouraged one to go down the slide. It was a very successful event even that ended with the watching of the 150th Kentucky derby, and what a run by Mystik Dan.

Affirmation of Knighthood

The chapter wished a farewell to the pledge class of 2020, whom graduated on Friday, May 10th. Some may be staying to pursue higher degrees, while others are beginning their careers all around the country. This pledge class has earned numerous accomplishments for the chapter itself, contributing to our chase for ongoing success. Thank you to you all, and good luck on your careers!

– Troy Schmidt (Mu 2922)
